Darrington III: Whitehorse Trail (2017-07-08)

Headed out to Darrington again, but chose a couple of new route segments this time. The section Whitehorse Trail that is "open to public" is largely 'surfaced' with grass and is rather bumpy, suited more to wide tires. I hope the county does a better job with the reconstruction work. The alternate route I took through Oso, however, was quite pleasant and I'll likely use it from here on out.

I forgot my phone before heading out on this ride, so I'll try my best to write this post completely from memory.

Second Half Foothills Loop (2017-07-01)

Finishing what I'd started, without the influence of caffeine.

Since this is essentially a continuation of last week's ride, a map that shows how the two rides relate is helpful.

The green line is this week's ride, while the black line is last week's ride. The red line was my plan for last week until the heat became too much for me.

Barlow Pass II (2017-06-10)

It was a pretty good ride aside from the downpours in the mountains. The multiple helicopters, ambulances, and police responses were pretty odd, though.

Teanaway Community Forest (2017-05-05,06,07)

After not being able to see this myself during the 2015 Bicycle Quarterly Un-meeting, I suggested to Jill that we check the area out. I didn't expect the roads to be this rugged, and we weren't able to truly follow the route due to the high river that day, but I managed to underbike more of the route than I'd expected. Jill was in her element the whole time thanks to her mountain biking background, while I had to walk or "scooter-kick" my bike across many parts.

Lake Washington Loop (2017-04-29)

A fun yet difficult ride not quite following the official Lake Washington Loop route. I also stopped by a new bike shop run by some of the folks from my previous local bike shop, which had closed down over a year ago.

Cedar and Green Rivers II (2017-02-25)

A fairly easy ride to further retrain my legs. I had some nice conversations with cyclists that were starting to ride again as the cold season ends.

More Mount Vernon (2017-02-11)

A simple ride with a little climbing to get my legs used to the saddle being high enough.

Snoqualmie Valley Trail and Tolt Pipeline Trail (2017-01-27)

The first real ride on my Crust Romanceur, after commuting on it a bunch. Got the saddle in a good spot for my knees, but I still need to pace myself while my leg muscles get used to that.

The real killer on the ride was too much caffeine, dehydration, and poor dietary habits. No more big meals!

The weather's been pretty bad up here, so I was glad to finally get a chance at a proper ride, and a chance to narrow down what my legs want.
